Mustard-Herb Turkey Burger

Mustard-Herb Turkey Burger

Ingredients:

For the Burger Patty:

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 2 tsp stone ground mustard

  • 1/3 cup finely chopped mixed herbs: sage, rosemary, basil, marjoram, parsley

  • 1/4 cup small diced onion

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp pepper flakes

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 lb. ground turkey

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs

For Serving:

  • 4 Hamburger buns

  • 1 large tomato, sliced thickly

  • slices of red onion, optional

  • butter lettuce leaves

  • Hellman's mayonnaise, Ketchup, Mustard

  1. Heat grill on high.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, add the first 7 ingredients and mix to combine. Add the ground turkey to the seasoning mix, along with the beaten egg and bread crumbs. Using a fork, mix all ingredients together just until incorporated. Do not overmix.

  3. Divide turkey mix into for equal portions. Form into patties.

  4. Oil grill grates. Place patties on grill, reduce heat to medium-high; cook 5 minutes. Flip and cook for another 4 to 5 minutes. An instant read thermometer should register 165℉.

  5. Assemble burgers: toast burger buns if you'd like before spreading a thin layer of mayonnaise. Place a tomato slice and one or two Butter lettuce leaves on the bottom side of the bun, add a patty on top. Top with any other condiment you'd like along with slices of onion, if using. Top it all with the top of the bun.

  6. Serve with your favorite side.

Notes&Tips:

  • Using herbs and mustard to help flavor this Mustard-Herbed Turkey Burger really gave intense flavors to the humble ground turkey. Your taste buds will crave more of these delicious flavor profile that they experience.

  • For a side, I served Creamy Potato Salad. Other sides that will go with this Mustard-Herbed Turkey Burger include, grilled corn, leafy green salad, baked beans, homemade fries, etc.

  • When cooking your burger, avoid pressing down on the patty, as this cause the loss of precious juices that make your burger juicy. For the perfect grill marks, ensure that your grill is heated for about 15 minutes before cooking.

  • I used homemade Sourdough Hamburger Buns as the vehicle for my burger patties.
