Slow Cooker Bar-B-Que Beef Ribs

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 rack beef back ribs (about 10 individual ribs)

  • 1 1/4 cup barbeque sauce

  • 1/2 cup water

Rub for Ribs:

  • 1 tsp each smoked paprika, ground mustard, garlic powder, and onion powder

  • 1 tsp each crushed dried thyme and oregano

  • 1/4 tsp pepper flakes

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp dark brown sugar

  1. In a small bowl combine all the ingredients for the rub. Set aside.

  2. Remove the membrane that is on the back of the ribs. Wash and dry ribs and section off into individual ribs. This will make it easier to fit into the crock pot.

  3. Season the ribs with the rub. At this point you can refrigerate the ribs for up to 24 hours. If you're short of time, however, you can skip this step.

  4. Place ribs in crock pot and pour the water into the crock pot. Drizzle 3/4 cup of BBQ sauce onto the ribs. Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours.

  5. Carefully remove ribs and place in an oven proof platter.

  6. Place ribs under the oven broiler along with some of the liquid in the crockpot and broil for 3 to 5 minutes.

  7. Drizzle remaining BBQ sauce onto ribs and serve.

Yields: about 4 servings


Notes&Tips:

  • These beef back ribs are very tender and delicious. We prefer them cooked in the crock pot vs. grilling them. You need a large size crockpot for cooking these, though.

  • Allowing the ribs to marinate in the rub for a few hours or overnight infuses the meat with more flavor.

  • This is a no fuss and easy way to cook beef back ribs.

  • For your side dish/s you can served mashed potatoes and or grilled corn on the cob.
