Ingredients:
3 cups sour cherry, stemmed and pitted
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp salt
Place cherries in a blender and process until smooth.
Add sugar, lemon juice, extract and salt. Blend.
Put in the refrigerator and allow to chill for 2 hours.
Turn on the electric ice cream maker; pour mixture in and churn for 15 to 20 minutes.
The sorbet will have a soft creamy texture. If you desire a firmer texture, freeze for 2 hours. Remove from freezer 15 minutes before serving.
Notes&Tips:
This is a wonderfully delicious and refreshing dessert for those warm summer evenings when you sit on the deck or the patio watching the sun go down and hear the birds twitter as they find their last bit of food to consume and call their young to the nest.
It is a super easy recipe to make that you can do it with your eyes closed!
Drizzle some condensed milk on top or add a dollop of homemade whipped cream and you will never miss ice cream again!
Note that you could use sweet cherries if you cannot procure sour cherry. Just adjust the amount of sugar if using sweet cherries (Bing)
